Golden Reserve Summary

Trivento’s highly acclaimed, limited edition Golden Reserve collection comprises a Malbec, Syrah and Chardonnay. These are terroir-driven wines — each effectively a cru, arising from a small and judicious selection of vineyards located in the higher altitudes of the prime Luján de Cuyo (for the Malbec) and Tupungato zones (for the Chardonnay and Syrah) of Mendoza. Higher altitudes contribute to a greater concentration of fruit, denser, weightier mouth-feel and a higher ratio of natural acidity that ultimately facilitates the wines’ ability to age. In the case of Trivento’s Golden Reserve Malbec, grapes are harvested from those remaining parcels of the remarkable Luján de Cuyo vineyard planted in 1912 not designated for the winery’s icon wine, the Eolo Malbec.

Grapes for all three Golden Reserve wines are harvested by hand, with selected bunches placed in small containers to ensure that the fruit reaches the winery in perfect condition. At the winery, a further selection takes place, with individual grapes selected by hand. The Golden Reserve wines are vinified and aged at a separate, designated winemaking facility, under the supervision of winemaker Germán Di Césare. Each is aged approximately 12 months, followed by additional bottle aging, with the length of time in bottle varying slightly according to the varietal and individual characteristics of each vintage.
